Day 4: Time flies!
π️ Date: 9 Oct 2025
π Title: Time flies!
Task Description
Today marked my fourth day of internship at the company. I started the morning with a meeting with my supervisor to get a better understanding of what the company does, which regions our team covers and what sub-company the team is responsible for. I also had a brief discussion about projects I could take on from the start till the end for my internship project report. I continued with the task given to me yesterday, which is the UI enhancement for the fixed term deposit and notice deposit tabs on the iGB mobile app. The current interface looks lengthy due to the information displayed and is causing cognitive dissonance. Furthermore, the view more button reveals more of the information. I was tasked to come up with ideas on simplifying the interface but still retaining the necessary information. Other than that, the HR provided me a temporary access card for the building entrance, and we have to return it once when we get the mobile access code. No more registering at the front desk every day anymore!
Challenges & Solutions
One challenge was that I took quite some time to find inspiration and come up with ideas to enhance the interface. With limited knowledge on investments and banking made it tougher because I do not know how those things work, I even had to learn some jargons in this field. I've been wanting to learn investments and everything related to it and this is a perfect opportunity for me to kick start!
Key Learnings & Skills Gained
I learned about what iFAST does and how the company runs. I also got to know with who our team work closely with, like with business users (BU), PD, and the IT Team. The workflow of our projects, frequency of meetings and presentations, with the team itself, with the global team (SG, HK, China, UK) and with the bosses.
Reflection & Next Steps
Overall, Day 4 was a really productive day as I felt like time just went by in a blink of an eye. I will start learning about investing and anything related to financial institutions so that I can fully understand the projects that I will be taking on.
