πŸ“Œ Title: One-week-old Intern!

Task Description

Today marked my fifth day of internship at the company. I began the morning by checking my emails and iFAST chat to ensure I didn’t miss any important messages. My supervisor granted me access to the team’s Notion account, which contains project plans and design platform credentials. He also introduced me to Mobbin, an online library and design research tool for UI/UX designers. It offers a vast collection of real-world, searchable screenshots of mobile and web interfaces to help designers gather inspiration, conduct research, and streamline their workflow.

At 10 a.m., I attended an orientation session for new joiners that lasted two hours. The session provided an in-depth introduction to the company, including its divisions, vision and mission statements, history, key stakeholders, revenue model, and overall business operations.

Challenges & Solutions

Although I’ve used Figma during university, I realized that I’m still not very skilled with it. Even simple tasks took me quite some time to complete. I need more practice and time to better understand the logic and workflow behind Figma.

My supervisor gave me a quick lesson on using Auto Layout and components from the existing library, which helps save time and improve both productivity and efficiency.

Key Learnings & Skills Gained

I discovered Mobbin, which opened my eyes to how professional designers gather inspiration and analyze real-world app interfaces. It’s definitely a platform I’ll keep using to improve my design sense.
Through the orientation session, I gained a better understanding of the company’s background, how different divisions operate, and how design contributes to the overall business goals.
Overall, I’m learning to adapt to a professional workflow, communicate more efficiently, and explore tools that can help me grow as a designer.

Reflection & Next Steps

Today made me realize that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to using Figma efficiently. Some tasks that seem simple still take me a while to complete, but I know it’s all part of the learning process. With more practice and patience, I’ll definitely get faster and more confident.

Moving forward, I plan to practice using Figma more regularly, explore tutorials and design resources, and apply what I learn in real projects. Most importantly, I’ll remind myself to keep going and never give up cause every bit of progress counts.
