Day 16: Presenting Fixed Deposit & Notice Deposit Mockups
π️ Date: 27 Oct 2025
π Title: Presenting Fixed Deposit & Notice Deposit Mockups
Task Description
Today, I had a call with a colleague from another department to walk through the Fixed Deposit (FD) and Notice Deposit (ND) mockups that I designed. This was my first time formally presenting my designs, with my supervisor sitting in to observe the session. The purpose of the call was to explain the design flow, key features, and how users would interact with the FD and ND modules once implemented. I focused on clearly explaining my design decisions and ensuring the colleague understood the intended user journey.
Challenges & Solutions
One challenge I faced was feeling nervous, as it was my first presentation and my supervisor was listening in. I managed this by preparing beforehand and walking through the mockups step by step in a structured way. Another challenge was that although we have UAT accounts to test the designs after IT builds them, I could not find an account with existing FD and ND to reference. To resolve this, I reached out to my supervisor for help, and asked for assistance in identifying a UAT account that already had existing FD and ND records for more accurate testing and validation.
Key Learnings & Skills Gained
This experience helped me build confidence in presenting my work and communicating design intent to stakeholders from other departments. I also learned the importance of having realistic test data in UAT environments to properly validate designs, especially for financial products like FD and ND.
Reflection & Next Steps
This session showed me the value of cross-department collaboration and clear communication when presenting designs. Moving forward, I aim to be more confident during presentations and better prepared with reference data. My next step is to test the FD and ND designs using the identified UAT account and refine the mockups based on feedback from my colleague and supervisor.
