Day 35: Icons, Iterations and Finally the Weekend

π Title: Icons, Iterations and Finally the Weekend
Task Description
Today marked my thirty-fifth day of internship and the end of Week 7. Honestly, I was really looking forward to the weekend. Following the feedback from last night’s meeting with the Business User (Joanna), I learned that the web version information cards looked too dull and needed to be more eye-catching.
My SV suggested using icons from flaticon.com, which offers both static and animated icons. I found them pretty cool and decided to utilize them in my design, carefully selecting suitable icons for each card’s content. I also browsed Mobbin for inspiration to improve the overall look and feel of the interface.
Aside from design work, I continued handling amendments for the back office Settlement module. The process felt very redundant, and the constant changes made me feel quite frustrated.
Challenges & Solutions
One major challenge today was dealing with repetitive changes for the Settlement module, which affected my motivation. To cope with this, I focused on completing tasks one by one and reminded myself that iterations are part of real-world project work. On the design side, translating feedback into visual improvements was challenging but manageable with the help of external resources like Flaticon and Mobbin.
Key Learnings & Skills Gained
I learned how small visual elements like icons can significantly improve user experience and make designs feel more engaging. I also gained more exposure to handling business user feedback and iterating designs quickly within tight timelines. Additionally, I practiced balancing design tasks with system amendment work.
Reflection & Next Steps
Despite feeling tired and slightly frustrated, today ended on a positive note. I am proud of myself for managing to complete and send the updated mockup today to Joanna before workday ends. For now, it's time to recharge and enjoy the weekend.
