Day 80: Tasks incoming

🗓️  Date:  28 Jan  2026 📌 Title:Tasks incoming Task Description We are halfway through the week already. Today I had a meeting at 10am with the business support executive from Singapore to go through the feedback on Business Banking Web Revamp project. We only managed to go through Commercial Banking first cause Transaction Banking is still pending review from their team. There were several amendments to make, like changing all pig related content like piggy banks to something else due to religion concerns, changing static graphics to animated graphics, and some content wordings.  Yesterday, I confirmed with the digital marketing manager that the Scan & Pay beta launch project is ready for development. So i had a meeting with one of the IT team members to brief her on the mockup around 11am. This is to clarify any confusion on the mockup and ensure that everything is correct before development.  Challenges & Solutions The past few days have been pretty...

Day 76: First experience with UAT

🗓️  Date:  23 Jan  2026 📌 Title: First experience with UAT Task Description I was completing the rest of the refinements of Payroll Credit Backoffice that I didn't manage to finish yesterday. By noon, I finished all my tasks given by my SV. The Payroll Credit Backoffice, Scan & Pay, Business Banking Web Revamp are now pending review. So, I updated my daily logbook to not waste time and be idle. A colleague asked to help him with UAT for IGP and IFA, which they provided an excel sheet on what to test (test steps) and test account login credentials. My task was to follow the test steps and check if all displayed info are correct, and to see if there are any UI issue on the website and mobile web. Both IFA and IGP have almost the same interface, just different brand colours. If I've found any issue, I can raise it in another slide sheet they provided. During the UAT, I found issues like inconsistent font size, wrong rounded tip. I screenshotted the UAT version and the ...

Day 79: UAT = Spot the Difference game

🗓️  Date:  27 Jan  2026 📌 Title: UAT = Spot the Difference game Task Description I continued working on iFAST Pay UAT and identified additional UI-related issues. These included an incorrect colour theme being applied to the drawers in the Cards module, which should have been in light mode. I also noticed that the font used in the UAT version did not match the mockup. I informed my supervisor about these issues for further action. Challenges & Solutions There were no major challenges today. I made an effort to keep myself busy, as I dislike being idle and wasting time. Whenever I ran out of tasks, I worked on updating my daily logbook, which is what I am doing now. Key Learnings & Skills Gained I go through every screen and each clickable feature in the app to ensure that nothing is missed. Through this process, I learned how to conduct UAT in a more systematic manner. First, I skim through the entire page to review the content, as it is usually correct and fr...

Day 78: iFAST Pay UAT

🗓️  Date:  26 Jan  2026 📌 Title: iFAST Pay UAT Task Description I spent almost the entire day working on iFAST Pay UAT. This involved testing the app on our test device by going through each flow step by step to ensure all functions were working properly. At the same time, I reviewed the UI to check whether it matched the mockups. Any issues or concerns I identified were reported in Jira, our project management tool, where the IT team and other testers can view and take action on them. I discovered several UI-related issues, including incorrect padding, inconsistent font sizes, improper spacing between elements, and the use of incorrect icon libraries. For each issue logged in Jira, I created a new board and included details such as the title, description, tester name, and date. I also used a comparison table to display the UAT and mockup versions side by side for clearer reference. Before lunch, we had a fire drill, so everyone had to walk down the stairs from...

Day 62: New Office, New Year

🗓️  Date:  2 Jan  2026 📌 Title:  New Office, New Year Task Description Day 62 marked a fresh start with a  new office move. N ew year, new space , but the same work momentum. I completed the  first draft  of the  Scan & Pay  campaign mockups and  sent it to the Marketing Manager  for review. Later, I continued working on the  Business Banking web revamp , focusing on aligning the design with the  current brand style , while also introducing new visual elements to improve the interface. The challenge was balancing consistency with innovation, keeping the existing look and feel while refreshing the experience. It was also my fellow intern’s  last day , but unfortunately I was feeling sick and couldn’t fully show my usual enthusiasm or properly celebrate her farewell. Challenges & Solutions The main challenge was balancing  creative work  with being under the weather. Despite not feeling well, I still...

Day 61: Half day of work cause it's NYE!!

🗓️  Date:  31 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Half day of work cause it's NYE!! Task Description Day 61 was a  half-day  due to  New Year’s Eve , so the day was shorter but still productive. I continued working on the  same tasks as yesterday , mainly focusing on: Business Banking Web Revamp  (refining the modern UI direction and interactions) Scan & Pay campaign  (previously Golden Ticket 2.0) — continuing to develop the flow and ideas There weren’t any major updates or new tasks today, but I used the time to maintain momentum and keep progress moving forward. Challenges & Solutions The main challenge was working with limited time, but I kept things simple and focused on small improvements that still contribute to the overall direction. Key Learnings & Skills Gained I learned that consistent small progress can still be meaningful, especially during short work days. Keeping the momentum helps prevent tasks from slowing down after a bre...

Day 60: I love designing websites!

🗓️  Date:  30 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  I love designing websites! Task Description Day 60 was a creative and busy day, split between the  Business Banking Web Revamp  and the  Golden Ticket 2.0 campaign , which has now been renamed to  Scan & Pay . I continued working on the  Business Banking web revamp , focusing on improving the current website’s static look by making it more interactive and modern. To achieve this, I: Tried  subtle hover animations on cards  to make the UI feel more dynamic Used  glass effects in Figma  to create depth and a premium feel Looked for inspiration on  Mobbin  and competitor websites to understand modern banking design trends I also spent time working on the campaign, now renamed Scan & Pay . This campaign continues the referral-based concept and aligns with the upcoming beta access Scan & Pay by Alipay , so I started exploring how the UX and campaign flow sho...

Day 59: The year is ending...

🗓️  Date:  29 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  The year is ending... Task Description Day 59 was a fresh start into the  Business Banking Web Revamp  project. I spent most of the day working on the revamp, aligning with modern UI patterns and preparing for the upcoming design phase. Later in the day, I had a meeting with the  Digital Marketing Manager at 5:30 PM  to discuss the  Golden Ticket 2.0 campaign . She briefed me on her expectations and the campaign’s key direction. During the meeting, she mentioned that she hopes to receive the  first draft by 2 January . I confirmed that I can deliver it by then. I’m feeling  excited and motivated  to start working on this project and see the campaign take shape. Challenges & Solutions The main challenge was aligning the campaign expectations with the timeline. By confirming the deadline and understanding her expectations clearly, I’m now able to plan the work and move forward confid...

Day 58: Early Release & Farewell Vibes

🗓️  Date:  24 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Early Release & Farewell Vibes Task Description Day 58 was a lighter, more festive day since it was  Christmas Eve,  which meant  early release  and a more relaxed atmosphere at work. In the morning, I spent time on  Mobbin , searching for design ideas and inspiration for the  Business Banking Web Revamp project . This helped me gather references and better understand modern UI patterns that could be applied to the upcoming project. Later, we had a  farewell lunch  for a fellow intern, which was a nice way to celebrate the season and bond with the team. Challenges & Solutions There weren’t many challenges today since the day was shorter and more casual. The main task was to use the time productively by researching design inspiration and preparing for the new project.  Key Learnings & Skills Gained I learned how to effectively use design inspiration platforms like Mobbin ...

Day 57: Dark Mode and New Projects

🗓️  Date:  23 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Dark Mode and New Projects Task Description Day 57 was a bit calmer, and I used the time to work on the  Cash ISA dark theme . I leveraged the  dark theme library created by our colleague , enabling the mockups to be easily switched between  light and dark modes  without recreating screens from scratch. This makes the design more scalable and consistent across both themes. My SV looped me into a call regarding the  iGB Business Banking Revamp  project. I haven’t started work on it yet, but it’s now on my radar and I will begin contributing soon. I continued refining the Cash ISA web mockups, specifically working on  popups and modals  to ensure they align with the Business User’s requests and feedback. Challenges & Solutions The main challenge was ensuring the dark theme implementation remained consistent with the light version, while keeping the UI readable and user-friendly. Usin...

Day 56: Golden Ticket 2.0

🗓️  Date:  22 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Golden Ticket 2.0 Task Description A new campaign,  Golden Ticket 2.0 , was introduced as a follow-up to the original Golden Ticket. The concept is that the more referrals a user makes, the closer they get to  queueing for beta access to the “Scan and Pay by Alipay” feature . I joined a meeting about this campaign, and at  5 PM , the  Digital Marketing Manager  briefed us on the project’s details and objectives. Challenges & Solutions The main challenge was getting fully up to speed on the campaign logic, and how it translates into user experience, especially since it's a marketing driven feature with specific goals.  Key Learnings & Skills Gained I learned how referral campaigns are structured and how incentives can be used to drive user behaviour. I also improved my ability to quickly understand and translate marketing requirements into UX designs. Reflection & Next Steps Day 56 was a dee...

Day 55: Quick Fixes, CISA Version 2

🗓️  Date:  19 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Quick Fixes, CISA Version 2 Task Description Day 55 started with more  Back Office changes from PD , including updates like changing the  order of the summary  and  removing export buttons . These were urgent because we needed to  complete the amendments before the 10 AM meeting . I quickly made the necessary updates to ensure the UI reflected the new requirements. For the Cash ISA project, the  new flow has now become Version 2 , while  Version 1 is kept for testing . Version 2 will be implemented as  Phase 2 , meaning the updated flow will be rolled out later after testing and approval. Challenges & Solutions The main challenge was the  tight turnaround time  for the Back Office changes before the 10 AM meeting. By prioritising and working efficiently, I managed to make the amendments in time. Another challenge was keeping track of the multiple versions of the Cash ISA ...

Day 54: Cash ISA is never ending.

🗓️  Date:  18 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Cash ISA is never ending. Task Description Day 54 started with a  surprising email from the Cash ISA Business User , requesting  more changes  again. I was low-key crashing out because I thought the project was supposed to be finalised already, especially given the timeline pressure. The BU specifically referred to  Revolut  and requested changes based on their expectations, which meant I had to make adjustments to align with the reference. For the rest of the day, I focused on: Implementing the  Revolut-inspired changes  requested by the BU Continuing the ongoing task of  finding and standardising bank logos Challenges & Solutions The biggest challenge was the emotional fatigue and frustration from repeated changes, especially when the project was expected to be finalised. To manage this, I focused on completing the requested changes step by step and keeping track of the modifications to...

Day 53: Logo Hunt and Half-day Recovery

🗓️  Date:  17 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Logo Hunt and Half-day Recovery Task Description Today brought a challenging update, the  Business User insisted on including bank logos , despite our earlier recommendation to avoid them due to the high volume and ongoing maintenance. To manage the workload, my SV and I  split the 90+ logos into two halves , meaning each of us handled about  45 logos . Our task was to  find SVG versions  of each bank logo, and then  edit them in Adobe Illustrator  to standardise the background and size. We also had a call to  standardise sizing  so the logos would look consistent in the UI. During the process, we discovered that  financial institutions often do not provide SVG versions , making it difficult to source them. In such cases, we agreed to  use PNG formats  instead, ensuring the logo remains usable and clear. Unfortunately, I was feeling quite unwell today with a  s...

Day 52: More demands, More presentations

🗓️  Date:  16 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  More demands, More presentations Task Description Today, the Business User requested adding  bank logos  to the list of banks in the Cash ISA transfer-in flow. The list includes  90+ banks , and it’s constantly updating, which makes maintaining logos a heavy and ongoing effort. Initially, we had decided to keep the list  text-only  to avoid the risk of outdated logos and excessive workload. To address the request, my SV helped me reply to the Business User’s comment by asking if she was sure about adding logos, and whether the team was prepared for the maintenance and updates required. At  10 AM , we had a  face-to-face presentation meeting  for the  MY IPO project . Since I rarely get to do F2F presentations, I was a bit nervous, but overall I felt fairly calm. My SV supported me during the session and helped answer most of the questions asked by the stakeholders. Challenges ...

Day 51: I love being busy, truly.

🗓️  Date:  15 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  I love being busy, truly. Task Description Day 51 was a mix of exploring new campaign requirements, managing UI decisions, and preparing for an important presentation. Golden Ticket Campaign I spent time reviewing the requirements for the new  Golden Ticket campaign , which is a  referral rewards program . The key concept is that both the  referrer and referee  receive  1.5% cashback for one month , once the referee successfully opens an account. Cash ISA Project For Cash ISA, the IT team raised a UI question: If the  transfer-in process is rejected , should we show the  specific reason  for rejection? They suggested it may be better to show a  generic message  instead, because the rejection reasons are  dynamic  and would require more effort to handle accurately. I was asked to propose this option to the Business User for approval. MY Stock IPO Project My SV remind...

Day 50: Long Meeting, Graphic Update

🗓️  Date:  11 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Long Meeting, Graphic Update Task Description Day 50 was a mix of deep discussion and detailed design work. In the morning, I had a  meeting with the Settlement team  at  10 AM , picking up where we left off a few days ago. The discussion ran  until 1 PM , making it a long session but necessary to align on the remaining settlement module details. After the meeting, I continued working on the  Cash ISA project , focusing on  reviewing and applying comments from the Business User  on the mockup. Most of the feedback for the  web version  was about  graphics , particularly improving the phone screen visuals with the latest UI and adding the  Transfer In banner . To complete this, I reached out to a colleague who previously worked on the Cash ISA project to  retrieve the graphic assets  to update them so the mockups can reflect the most recent design. My...

Day 49: New rewards campaign!

🗓️  Date:  11 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  New rewards campaign! Task Description Day 49 finally brought some  long-awaited feedback from the Business User  for the  Cash ISA project . The main request was to add  tooltips  explaining how the  current tax year amount  works, as well as clarifying the  breaching policy . So the entire day was spent working on these amendments, making sure the UI clearly explains the rules and avoids confusion for users. Along the way, I also had to make several  minor but important changes , including: changing  all dollar signs ($)  to  GBP (£) making  wording adjustments  to match BU expectations ensuring consistency across the entire mockup At  5 PM , I joined a meeting with the  UK marketing team  about a  new project called “Golden Ticket” , which is a rewards campaign. This was the first time I was exposed to this initiative, so it was a go...

Day 48: What a busy day!

🗓️  Date:  10 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  What a busy day! Task Description Day 48 started with follow-ups from the  Settlement meeting the day before . As my SV had to attend another Back Office, related meeting on different matters, he entrusted me to remain in the Settlement discussion since I was the one who created the  Settlement module mockups . Today, I updated him on all the changes and points discussed. At  10 AM , I joined another meeting to walk through  Transaction module changes , aligning on updated requirements and expected UI behaviour. After the meeting, I  worked quickly to implement the required amendments . By around  3 PM , most of my assigned tasks were completed, leaving me with some capacity. Instead of waiting idly, I proactively reached out to my SV for more work. He then looped me into  Account module changes , where I helped make updates by referring closely to the  user requirements spreadsheet . Later o...

Day 47: I am about to crash out

🗓️  Date:  9 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  I am about to crash out Task Description Day 47 was another long one. I had a  7 PM meeting scheduled with the big bosses  for the  Cash ISA project , and knowing I wouldn’t be able to make it home in time, I decided to  stay back in the office  to attend the meeting. During the day, I continued working on  Back Office amendments , specifically on the  Account Pending Approval page , where I added the necessary modals to support the updated flow. While working on this, I ran into a particularly  frustrating issue,  after clicking a certain button, the state wouldn’t revert to normal even though everything seemed to be set up correctly. Despite checking and rechecking, I couldn’t immediately identify the root cause, which was mentally draining. At around  4:30 PM , I joined a meeting with the  Settlement team  to walk through the  Settlement module  once again, cla...

Day 46: It's getting pretty hectic guys-

🗓️  Date:  8 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  It's getting pretty hectic guys- Task Description Day 46 was focused on wrapping things up and aligning with stakeholders. I scheduled a  meeting with the IT team  for the  Cash ISA project , as all amendments discussed last week needed to be completed by  3 PM . I managed to finish the required updates on time and walked IT through the changes during the meeting. In parallel, the  MY Stock IPO project  was progressing well, but I still had a few uncertainties around the flow and logic. I raised these questions with my SV and gained a clearer understanding of the user journey and business intent. This was especially important as I’ll need to  present the mockups to stakeholders next week , and fully understanding the product is crucial to confidently explain design decisions. The meeting with IT went  smoothly and efficiently . During the session, I also learned something new, how...

Day 45: Redo, Rewire, Repeat

🗓️  Date:  5 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Redo, Rewire, Repeat Task Description For Day 45, my SV attended the late-night meeting on my behalf, as I already had personal plans after work. In the morning, he walked me through the outcomes of the discussion together with an  IT colleague who was also unable to attend . As a result, the  logic for the Cash ISA Transfer-In flow changed yet again . Hearing through the changes was exhausting, especially knowing that a lot of prior work would need to be rethought. Despite the frustration, I moved forward by  redesigning the screens based on the updated logic . Throughout the process, my SV provided helpful suggestions and opinions that guided decision-making and improved clarity in the flow. From a design perspective, I also had to revisit my  visual approach . My first draft relied heavily on  black buttons , but this didn’t fully align with brand guidelines. I reworked the designs to incorporate...

Day 44: After-Hours Bombshell

🗓️  Date:  4 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  After-Hours Bombshell Task Description Day 44 came with an unexpected shock when I received a  last-minute email from the UK Business User , proposing a meeting from  8–9 PM , which is  well beyond working hours  for the Malaysia team. The meeting was arranged  without prior discussion , and my SV was not included in the email loop. I immediately informed him, and he stepped in to question the arrangement with the UK side, raising concerns around time zone consideration and professionalism. Despite the disruption, work continued on ongoing projects. I  continued brainstorming Cash ISA Transfer-In problems , diving deeper into edge cases and user journey gaps together with  IT and my SV . We discussed further refinements to the flow, validating assumptions and identifying areas that still required clarification from the Business User. In parallel, I also worked on  additional amendments for the...

Day 43: Multiple Projects, One Very Busy Brain

🗓️  Date:  3 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Multiple Projects, One Very Busy Brain Task Description Day 43 required quite a bit of context switching across projects. Earlier on, my SV had asked me to work on the  MY Stock IPO mobile app version , but since it wasn’t high priority at the time, I had been focusing on other projects. Today, the priority shifted as we needed to  review the mockups with Business Users next Thursday , so I started actively working on it. The task mainly involved  converting the existing web version flow into a mobile experience . Before jumping into design, I had to first understand the fundamentals— what an IPO is, how the process works, the end-to-end user flow on web, and the underlying logic . There were already some mobile screens in the design file, so my role was to update the content to align with the web version and create additional screens that had not yet been designed. At the same time, I was also waiting for feed...

Day 42: Meetings, meetings, meetings.

🗓️  Date:  2 Dec  2025 📌 Title:  Meetings, meetings, meetings. Task Description Day 42 was mainly focused on making amendments for iFAST Pay Backoffice project, specifically around Settlement module, like moving Fee Charges submodule from E-payment module to the MSB module. While some work was in progress, a portion of the changes still pending confirmation. In the morning, my SV invited me to join a 9:30am meeting with the Ops CS team to walk through the account opening module. Since I had previously helped him with mockups for this module, he wanted me involved in the discussion.  We also had our weekly team meeting today. Ahead of it, I consolidated what I worked on over the past week and added the updates into the presentation slides. Challenges & Solutions A key challenge was dealing with changes that were still pending confirmation, which made it difficult to fully close off certain tasks. Besides back to back meetings also took up time for me to wor...

Day 41: Brainstorming and Braincracking

🗓️  Date:  29 Nov  2025 📌 Title:  Brainstorming and Braincracking Task Description I started the day by discussing the recent Cash ISA meeting outcomes with another IT team member who was on leave, updating him on the latest requirement changes. Following that, I brainstormed together with him and my SV on the new flow for Cash ISA Transfer-In, now that partial transfers also need to be supported. Initially, I was expecting Joanna to send over the updated flow for this change, but since it hadn’t come through, we decided not to wait and risk delaying the project timeline. Instead, we proactively moved forward by coming up with a proposed new flow ourselves. Given the uncertainty, we chose to create a wireframe in FigJam rather than jumping straight into high-fidelity mockups, as we wanted to avoid double work if changes were still needed. We then scheduled a meeting with Joanna at 6 PM to walk her through the proposed flow first, before presenting anything t...

Day 40: 2 Months in iFAST! and more OT!

🗓️  Date:  28 Nov  2025 📌 Title:  2 Months in iFAST! and more OT! Task Description Today was my fortieth day of internship, and it was another long and exhausting day. I had yet another meeting scheduled with the Cash ISA team at 7 PM to align with UK time. While I was on my way home, the meeting time was suddenly moved earlier to 6:30 PM. Thankfully, my SV had already allowed me to leave at 5 PM. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have made it back in time for the meeting. During the meeting, it became clear that the Business User and the big boss had different views on the Cash ISA Transfer-In requirements. Initially, the flow was designed to accept only full transfers, but the big boss insisted on allowing partial transfers as well. This led to major requirement changes, which directly impact the logic and require significant updates to the mockups. Challenges & Solutions The main challenges today were fatigue from repeated late meetings and dealing with sudden, large-sc...

Day 39: Late Nights, Lingering Fatigue & Speaking Up

🗓️  Date:  27 Nov  2025 📌 Title:  Late Nights, Lingering Fatigue & Speaking Up Task Description Today was my thirty-ninth day of internship. After having a meeting that went on until almost 9 PM last night, I felt extremely tired starting the day. Despite the fatigue, I continued working on the logic and flow of the Cash ISA Transfer-In mockups. While refining the mockups, I ran into several confusions and unanswered questions, especially around the logic and edge cases of the transfer process. Instead of guessing or making assumptions, I raised my concerns and questions in the big group chat to seek clarification from the relevant stakeholders and ensure that my designs aligned with the actual business logic. Challenges & Solutions The biggest challenge today was pushing through exhaustion while still needing to think clearly about complex logic. On top of that, uncertainty around requirements made progress difficult. To address this, I chose ...

Day 38: Banner Struggles, Differing Perspectives & Seeking Help

🗓️  Date:  26 Nov  2025 📌 Title:  Banner Struggles, Differing Perspectives & Seeking Help Task Description Started the day with a good news. Vanessa (PIC for FTD & ND revamp) said the web and mobile interfaces are ready to be developed. I informed a project manager so he could arrange resources to develop this project. My SV had informed him beforehand so he was aware on this matter.  Besides, today was a big focus on refining the banner design for the Cash ISA Transfer-In flow. During a call with Simon (the big boss), he mentioned that the icon used in the banner looked too heavy for Cash ISA. I changed the icon to a simpler version, but he still felt that the banner looked “weird.” From my perspective, this banner acts as an entry point for Cash ISA Transfer-In, rather than a promotional banner. Most existing banners are promotional in nature and contain more content, which naturally makes them look fuller. In contrast, I felt that an entry-po...
